It´s said that It´s more difficult to learn how to speak english well being an adult and probably he didn´t have to study english at school. On the other hand, I have been learning english since I was 6 or 7 and I sound similar to him. My conclusion therefore is that there are people who don´t have natural ability with languages.
Studies show that it is more difficult to have a good accent as one grows older but not to learn the language. And language is a skill which can always be learnt whether it be at a faster or a slower pace. P.S. I think you sound a lot better :)
